There are times in life when you find yourself in a situation that you never imagined you would have to face. For me and my family, this was one of those times. I was accused of something I had not done, and what followed was an incredibly stressful and frightening experience. The circumstances were complicated, there was a tremendous amount of missing information, and the person making the accusations had been able to present a very one-sided version of events. At one point, we had even worked with other lawyers who seemed to have already made up their minds about me. One essentially told us they didn't believe me, and another suggested that the circumstances made me look guilty. Then we met Scott Perlstein and his team at Palmer Perlstein. What struck me immediately was that Scott didn't make assumptions. He listened. He and Russell and Michelle took the time to sit with us, ask questions, understand the history, reconstruct what had happened, and patiently work through what initially seemed like an enormous and confusing web of information. They didn't simply look at what was in front of them and accept it at face value. They wanted to understand the whole story. That made all the difference. Over the course of more than a year, they worked tirelessly to uncover the facts and put everything into context. They built a comprehensive case on our behalf and ultimately prepared a 200-page dossier reconstructing the events and documenting the facts. They were thorough, persistent and incredibly patient throughout a process that was, at times, overwhelming for us. But what meant the most to me was that they genuinely had our backs. Scott, Russell and Michelle didn't just treat this as another case. They took the time to understand us as people and, once they understood what had really happened, they believed that justice required them to keep pushing forward. They never gave up on us, even when the process became extraordinarily complicated and seemed to drag on endlessly. Eventually, the case was no-billed. The relief I felt is difficult to put into words. After living with the uncertainty and fear of not knowing where this could ultimately lead, having the matter finally resolved was an enormous weight lifted from our shoulders. But Palmer Perlstein gave me something beyond the outcome of the case. They gave me back my confidence. They gave me back my faith that the justice system can work when good people are willing to do the hard work of finding the truth. After everything was over, we went back to see the team. Scott said something that has stayed with me: our win is their win. I believe he meant it. I will be eternally grateful to Scott, Russell, Michelle and everyone at Palmer Perlstein for standing beside us when we needed it most. They didn't have to take the personal interest they did. They didn't have to keep digging when it would have been easier to accept the story that had been presented to them. But they did. When you and your family are facing an immeasurable crisis it is important to have the right people fighting for you in the ring that is our justice system, and the only people for that job are Scott Palmer and his team. First things first, if you find yourself in a situation where you need legal support you absolutely must know that the process ahead of you will be long, painful, and hold many moments that feel like defeat. In those times, it is important that you have someone there defending you, who even when you take a right hook to the chin (and there will be many) they stay in the fight encouraging you to keep going. Most importantly, when it looks like the fight is over and you feel as if your knocked out and on the floor, you need someone that will pick you up, tell you the fight is far from over, and take your place in the ring. That is what Scott Palmer and his team did for our family. We had several setbacks during our battle with the justice system but at each setback Scott and his team continued to look for ways to fight for the best results. Their tenacity didn't end at the last meeting of negotiations but continued into the final day of court, resulting in an outcome much better than my family and I could have ever desired and ultimately making it possible for me to leave this review. The process wasn't easy, it wasn't always smooth, but they never gave up and that was what mattered most. They are responsive, communicative, and will help you prepare for each step to come. They will not shy away from telling you the hard truths nor sugar coat things to give you false hope, rather they manage expectations when you need it most. You won't be able to find a better team to represent you when you think all is lost and of that I am sure.
